NICOLE CROZIER
born 1990 in Ottawa - lives and works in Montréal, QC
Nicole Crozier (b. 1990-, Ottawa) obtained a Bachelors of Fine Arts from University of Ottawa (2013) and is currently pursuing a Masters of Fine Arts at Concordia University in Painting and Drawing. She has showcased her work at Nuit Blanche Toronto, St. Brigid’s Centre for the Arts, and Cambridge Art Galleries, among others.
Working across painting, photography and sculpture, Crozier approaches the figure and the landscape from a place of image, of look: employing both as theatrical scaffolding on which our daydreams can be hung, aiming to create works that simultaneously seduce and unsettle as a means of investigating the swinging ambivalence between what is real and fictitious, human and natural, known and unknown. As such, her figures often exist in a state of anxious suspension; caught between two or more ways of being, they find themselves detained between dissolution and becoming.
