TIAN Contemporain is pleased to present Lyrical Enchantment, a group exhibition featuring the works of Véronique Chagnon Côté, Trevor Kiernander, Ingrid Syage Tremblay and Yen-Chao Lin. This exhibition convenes a constellation of works exploring the emergent quality of enchantment through material transformation, drawing attention to the spaces between what is known and unknown, what memories and stories are forgotten, and what can be retraced, renewed, and reimagined.

Each artist has responded to traditional expressions in architecture, sculpture, and painting, distilling and isolating them into their component forms using techniques ranging from formal abstraction to sustained material investigations. Chagnon Côté’s paintings engage with feminist interpretations of the phenomenology of space, reimagining and reinterpreting architectural conventions while subverting boundaries between interiority and exteriority. Kiernander’s sweeping abstractions are inspired by the richness of multi-sensory soundscapes, unfolding as a somatic choreography of rhythmic gestures and spontaneous mutations and inviting the audience to attune to the porous boundary between sound and form. Lin’s multidisciplinary works are animated by a material mysticism rooted in the tension between extractive logic and inherent potential. The concept of "everything that can be sensed but not necessarily seen" informs the meticulously iterative nature of her practice, in which composite pieces form a greater whole, activating the relational magic of combinatory poetics. Tremblay's sculptural carvings transform personal narratives and great historical mythologies into tangible, grounded material realities. Working primarily with wood, ”a living material that carries within it the passage of time,” her work focuses on notions of transmission and loss, exploring how stories migrate through material and memory. As navigated in the respective practices of these artists, the elemental building blocks— material, color, texture, movement—become an enchanted site of generative potential, a portal to understanding and thereby creating meaning out of the entanglement between humans and the material and metaphysical worlds they inhabit.
