KARA SKYLLING
lives and works in Pittsburgh, PA and Montreal, QC
Kara Skylling holds a bachelor’s degree in Fibers and Fabric Design at Tyler School of Art of Temple University in Philadelphia and is currently pursuing her MFA in Painting and Drawing at Concordia University. Through the creation of abstract drawings, inspired by the arrangement of industrial material and the construction of architecture, Skylling’s work explores the patterned repetition of our built landscape. Influenced by our physical and emotional relationships with space, her deconstructed compositions and images use line, form and color, with a focus on structure, process and material.
Skylling has recently exhibited at the 707 Gallery (Pittsburgh, PA) and the Leonard & Bina Ellen Gallery (Montreal, QC), and participated in residencies in Pittsburgh and Sweden.
