TREVOR KIERNANDER
born 1975 - lives and works in Montréal, QC
Trevor Kiernander (b. 1975, Mississauga) received his MFA in Art Practice from Goldsmiths University of London (2009) and his BFA in Painting & Drawing from Concordia University (2006). With meticulous precision, he investigates the formal aspects of painting and drawing while generating a unique rhythmic flow. By blending multiple perspectives, exploring their intersections, and layering techniques, he examines the inherent duality of background and foreground, ultimately treating the interplay between image and ground as a form in itself. His recent exhibitions include Oceans Were Taller in Other Dimensions IV at Maison de la culture Mercier in Montréal, Let’s Print Leipzig, at Leipzig Print Museum in Germany, and Abstraction V.1 at Newzones Gallery in Calgary. His work can be found in the collections of Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, Musée des beaux-arts de Sherbrooke, Toronto Dominion Bank, and various private collections internationally. He lives and works in Montréal.
